X appointed a new security director nearly a year after the previous security director resigned. The company said on Tuesday it had Kylie McRoberts serves as head of security, and Yale Cohen has been hired as head of brand safety and advertiser solutions.
The pair will have the daunting task of leading X’s security efforts, including trying to reassure advertisers that the platform will not be monetized or. The company said earlier this year that it plans to hire 100 new security employees, following the majority of its security staff.
The security chief position has been a particularly fraught one ever since Elon Musk took over the company formerly known as Twitter. Musk has previously clashed with his security leadership, and McRoberts is the third person to hold the title in less than two years. Previously, Yoel Roth was replaced by Ella Irwin shortly after the disastrous launch of Twitter Blue in 2022. Ella Irwin replaced Ross last year after Musk publicly criticized employees for enforcing policies on gender discrimination.
Little is known about McRoberts, but she is apparently a current member of the X security team (her X account is currently private and appears to have been recently deleted). “During X’s tenure, she has led initiatives to increase transparency of our audit practices through labeling, improve security through keys, and establish a new Security Center of Excellence in Austin,” X said in a statement.
