Ubisoft’s online racing game crew It ceased operations on April 1st. However, some users reported that things got worse. They say the company actually hacked into Ubisoft Connect accounts and revoked licenses to access the game, and others.
Some of these users purchased the game with their own money and received no warning that Ubisoft would remove the license. These players stated that when trying to launch the game, they received a message stating that access was no longer available.
On the surface, this sounds terrible. People paid the price for what was taken away. However, there is an important caveat. crew is an online-only racing game, so without servers there’s nothing to do. The servers went down on April 1, and the game was removed from the digital store. Additionally, this move will only affect the original game. The Crew 2 and It’s all still going on.
When Ubisoft announced the server would be offline, it offered refunds to users who had recently purchased the server crew. The game has been out for about ten years, so this refund may not apply to the vast majority of players. Some of them said they had originally planned to set up private servers to play the game, but that option is now not possible.
It’s not the biggest deal in the world crew It’s not operational, but it does highlight a major problem with the purchase and use of digital goods. We pay for these products. We think we own them, but we don’t own a damn thing. Please read Ubisoft’s or any other major game publisher’s terms of service for proof.Ubisoft Subscription Director Philippe Tremblay recently stated Game Industry Network That player will. I’m not so sure we’d accept the idea that something we pay for might disappear immediately, even if it becomes standard practice.
