Today, there are many options for pet trackers, and some can even monitor heart rate, but apparently none so far can detect atrial fibrillation (AFib). At CES 2024, GPS tracker specialist Invoxia launched Minitailz, the world’s first pet tracker that can keep an eye on early signs of heart disease in cats or dogs. The companion app then uses conversational artificial intelligence to produce easy-to-read reports about your pet, along with other vital statistics and activity logs.

According to the French company, using its advanced biometric sensors combined with artificial intelligence, Minitailz is able to track respiratory and cardiac vital signs with 97% to 99% accuracy. This set of data is then used to discover digital biomarkers indicative of stress, aging and pathology using deep learning algorithms. The device can also differentiate between types of exercise, such as walking, running, and zooming, and alert you when your pet goes outside a preset geofence.

The Minitailz module has a built-in SIM card for LTE-M connectivity and can be combined with GPS for real-time tracking. According to Invoxia, it can be attached to any pet collar, which is an advantage over many competing devices that are stuck inside a physical neckband.

Minitailz is already available for dogs via the Invoxia website for $99, with a cat version to follow in March for the same price. You’ll also need to purchase a subscription, which starts at $8.30 per month.
