We always find some weird gadgets at CES. There’s no way around it, with thousands of exhibitors hawking their wares trying to find a market for something no one has dreamed of before. From startups to giants like Samsung, there are plenty of things that make us stop, chuckle, and shake our heads. Here are some of the most popular products at CES 2024. Remember, weird doesn’t necessarily mean bad. It just means weird.

    Sightful’s Spacetop AR laptop

While the bottom half of the Spacetop looks like a traditional laptop, the top half relies on tethered AR glasses to provide a 100-inch virtual display.

If you squint, you’ll see how a laptop paired with AR glasses can deliver a wider, more immersive experience than a standard 14-inch laptop screen. Unfortunately, the narrow field of view, spongy keyboard, and high price make this product less popular.

Yes, Barrie is really cute. We were excited to see it rolling around the demo area at Samsung’s CES booth. But it’s still weird to have a little robot follow you around so it can project workout videos on the ceiling while you work on your abs.

Moonwalkers have an elegant premise: By pushing humans who wear them to go further than usual with each step, they can make walking more efficient for a day, week, or lifetime. The new “X” model is lighter, has fewer wheels and is theoretically easier to produce. But the original Moonwalker cost about $1,400, which is a lot of money. You’d better walk faster.

Dinosaur stories generated by Volkswagen’s ChatGPT

While we can see potential use cases for smarter voice assistants (powered by ChatGPT) in cars, having cars tell us stories about dinosaurs is a very strange way to present it.

ZooGears TheButter — a “piano” for dogs

We’ve all seen videos of dogs “playing” musical instruments, but this may be the first video made specifically for pets. “Teach” your dog to “play” this “piano” and you’re sure to be entertained for hours. The $299 device even comes with an automatic feeder to encourage your dog to keep going.

One to One – Slow-tempo music suitable for dogs

It turns out that slow-paced music that soothes pets and cartoons that keep them learning are the same thing. We love studies showing this, but it still doesn’t explain why this is better than letting your dog listen to your Spotify account.

    Flappie AI cat door

Come on, look how cute this is! Let that poor guy in, you cruel and arbitrary cat door.

    Adam-X CPR Dummy

Let’s be clear: “weird” doesn’t necessarily mean “bad” or “useless.” Adam-X does seem to be useful for medical training. However, it’s also a bit off-putting.

We will provide live coverage of CES 2024, which will be held in Las Vegas from January 6th to 12th.Get all the latest news from the show here.
