Samsung threw a dart at the calendar this year and chose January 17th. Yes, its next Unpacked event will be held earlier this year and will be held at the SAP Center in San Jose. The event, usually held in February, is usually when Samsung showcases its latest lineup of flagship smartphones. At this point we’ll see the Galaxy S24 – unless the company changes the numbering – I remember the S8! *
However, this is largely unofficial. Samsung doesn’t usually reveal exactly what it’s going to show off (unless it’s teasing foldable devices that “unfold”). If you’re feeling risky, the company has launched a “pre-order” program where you can register your email address to pre-order something…Galaxy-flavored.

*Yes, I know Samsung changed its naming convention to S20 in 2020, but Let me have fun.

LG makes a jukebox with transparent OLED and vacuum tubes
Because it can.
LG showed off another product at CES: the DukeBox from LG Labs. This audio device combines vacuum tube audio with a transparent OLED panel for control. Vacuum tubes have been around since 1906, and transparent OLEDs appeared around 2015. Why not put them together? Functionally, it is a charming smart speaker. LG seems to be marketing it to older, wealthy people who stack the books so you can’t see the spines. What a powerful move.

Pornhub blocks Montana, North Carolina as age verification laws take effect
The website said state identification requirements would put users’ privacy at risk.
Montana and North Carolina consistently top the list of the most searched states in the U.S. "VPN" in the past few days. Why? New age verification laws were enacted on January 1 and adult websites will now either require visitors to provide a copy of their government ID or be completely banned from access in these areas.
Pornhub decided to block users in those two states from accessing its site, rather than requiring verification. Other websites owned by its parent company Aylo (formerly MindGeek), including Brazzers, Redtube and YouPorn, are also no longer accessible.

Tesla says it will deliver a record 1.8 million electric vehicles in 2023
China’s BYD is not far behind, selling 1.6 million pure electric vehicles.
Tesla has announced its 2023 electric vehicle delivery and production figures, marking another stellar year for the company. Last year, the company produced 1.846 million electric vehicles and delivered 1.809 million, a 38% increase over 2022 deliveries. Still, Tesla initially expected sales to reach 2 million vehicles in 2023, but revised that number down during its October 2023 earnings call. Its electric vehicle sales have also benefited from multiple price cuts last year, with Model 3 and Model Y recently dropping to $38,990 and $45,990 respectively.
