Remember the Apple car rumors? Project Titan, as its name suggests, is still in progress and may still have some practical significance. BloombergMark Gurman said the company’s decade-old project has shifted away from building fully self-driving cars and toward more Tesla-like electric vehicles. The car’s autonomous driving capabilities have reportedly been downgraded from a Level 5 system (full automation) to a Level 4 system (full automation in some cases) and now to Level 2+ (partial automation). For context, Tesla’s Autopilot level is Level 2. Level 2+ has not yet been formally described.

Some rumors and reports suggested the car wouldn’t have a traditional steering wheel or pedals, but now it could become a more traditional car. Apple has apparently discussed its updated plans with potential manufacturing partners in Europe. Bloomberg said the company still hopes to offer Level 4 autonomous systems at some point.

Some of us can wait. Some of us have been writing about it since 2015.

Sort of. Hardware quirks abound, battery life is average, and it still looks like a pretty average laptop. But how many other laptops let you completely upgrade your CPU or GPU over the course of a few years?
