By now you’ve had enough time to completely blast your friends with Spotify Wrapped and your audio streaming personality, but there’s a lot more listening material to come from.

One year after Spotify launched the “Playlist in a Bottle” feature on January 5, 2023, it has relaunched the feature. This truly long-lasting tool allows you to create a little time capsule of the music you’re listening to right now, ready to be viewed exactly 12 months from now.

The feature asks you for three song-inspired prompts, resulting in your unique Bottle playlist, which Spotify then locks away for a year. If you made a playlist last year, you can claim it now, if not, you can make a playlist for next year, but it will only be available in 2025.

How to Make Your Spotify a “Playlist in a Bottle”

    what do you need

    • Spotify app and subscription

    • desktop browser

    • smartphone

Step 1: Open the Spotify Playlist in a Bottle website

You can open the website on your smartphone, or you can open the website on your desktop (and scan the QR code with your phone).

Step 2: Select the time capsule object.

You can choose from: snowballs, wheelie bins, electric pots, flip phones, bird’s nests or more traditional bottles.

Step 3: Answer Spotify’s questions and select your song.

These range from “a song you would play for aliens if they visited Earth” to “a song you need to hear live in 2024” to “a song you would take to a deserted island” . You can randomize it or start typing your answer as a song title and Spotify will populate the search results. Press the + button to lock it and click Next.

Step 5: Leave a note for your future self.

You can use your finger to draw in the grid, or use your mouse to draw on the desktop.

Step 6: Take one last look at your playlist and click Lock.

If necessary, you can click the small “x” in the circle next to each song to edit it.

Step 7: Place your finger on the fingerprint icon to save the playlist.

Step 8: Wait one year until Spotify sends you a reminder.

If you make a Bottle playlist, Spotify will email you when it’s ready in 2025.

Until then, there are many more websites that can provide insight into your Spotify listening data.
