A year after announcing its own line of Roku-branded TVs, the hardware company today launched a new line of premium TVs. Roku also introduced Roku Smart Picture, an AI-powered feature that automatically adjusts image and audio quality.
The Roku Pro Series TVs have a thinner design than the Roku Select and Plus Series TVs and come with a stand that sits flat on the wall. The new TV also features a 4K QLED screen and mini-LED for local dimming. The company added that the TVs come with audio upgrades that deliver “wide cinematic sound.”
Roku will launch its new product line to U.S. customers this spring. The new TVs are available in 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch sizes and cost just under $1,500, a slight increase from the $999 model.
Roku Smart Picture, also launching in spring 2024, is a new feature for Roku TV programming designed to optimize the viewing experience. Roku Smart Picture uses artificial intelligence, machine learning and data from content partners to determine the type of content on the screen and adjust TV settings to ensure viewers get the best presentation. This feature will be rolled out to all Roku TV models.
Today’s announcement comes on the heels of Roku’s November quarter earnings, which showed solid revenue growth – up 20% year over year, which the company attributed to sales of its Roku Select and Plus line of TVs, as well as video advertising and content distribution. Roku’s total net revenue was $912 million, compared with $761 million in the same period last year.
Roku is scheduled to speak at the CES technology conference next Wednesday, January 10.
