rock band 4 Weekly DLC drops are coming to an end. Harmonix said Wednesday that the batch of new songs coming on January 25 will be the last for the game. While all other live services will remain active, the developers plan to fully focus on the Fortnite Festival-like Rock Band, a rhythm game set in Epic’s digital world.
Product Manager Daniel Sussman is greatly missed rock band 4Eight years of impressive new songs every week. “In the long run, I think the Rock Band DLC catalog is a huge achievement of persistence and commitment – over the years we’ve cleaned up, created and released close to 3,000 songs as DLC, well over 3,000 if you include all the game soundtracks First,” he wrote in an announcement blog post. “This is crazy.”
Sussman said Harmonix is committed to protecting its licenses and promises purchased content will remain available. He added that all other live streaming services for the game, including rival and online competitions, will continue as normal. There won’t be any new music for the rhythm game, which launched in 2015 with a total of 65 tracks.
Launched in December, Fortnite Festival is the rock god stage in the hit battle royale game. The advantage is that it’s free: You don’t need to spend a few bucks to realize the dream of listening to “Seven Nation Army,” the Cranberries’ “Zombies,” or Bel Biv Devoe’s “Poison.”
rock band 4 Instrument support is coming to Epic’s virtual stage. “If you’re a fan of the rhythm game genre, Fortnite Festival is the place to be; and support RB4 The instrument is here, now is not the time to hang up the guitar…”
Harmonix is tight-lipped about the final track, but it promises to be relevant to the theme. “We thought long and hard about how to structure the final explosion of RB DLC for this era,” Sussman explained. “There will be some tear-jerking stories over the past two weeks that sum up how we feel about this moment. We thank you for your commitment and passion for this wonderful game.”
