Consumers speak many languages, and unfortunately, scammers are fluent in them all. That’s why the Federal Trade Commission is strengthening its fraud-fighting capabilities by collecting scam reports in multiple languages. As a member of the business community, you can help by sharing these new resources with your employees, friends, and others in your network.
To make reports in Mandarin, Tagalog, Vietnamese, French, Arabic, Korean, Russian, Portuguese, Polish and many other languages, consumers can call the FTC at (877) 382-4357 and press 3 to speak with an interpreter staff call. To report identity theft, they can call (877) 438-4338 and select the option for their preferred language. Line hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
