Motorola has announced the Edge 50 series, a trio of new smartphones that you can choose to buy with either a pearl polymer finish or a wood back. The Edge 50 Ultra, 50 Pro, and 50 Fusion have the usual features you’d expect from an Android phone, with the usual AI bells and whistles.
Taking the Edge 50 Ultra as an example, it is equipped with a 4500mAh battery and supports 125W TurboPower charging – which is said to provide a day’s worth of power in just four minutes. The phone also comes with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 mobile platform, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. The device also supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking.
Then there’s Style Sync, which allows users to “extend their personal style to their device by capturing and uploading a picture of their clothing pattern to generate multiple unique images.” Basically, it creates a pattern that matches your clothing pattern Wallpaper that matches the color palette. The tool comes with another new feature that allows users to describe the image via text prompts to display the resulting image.
On the camera front, Motorola claims the Edge 50 Ultra has the most impressive system ever. Many of its features use artificial intelligence, including adaptive stabilization, autofocus tracking, and action shooting. There’s also the Photo Enhancement Engine, which uses artificial intelligence to apply shooting modes and fine-tune photos for the highest quality results. In addition to AI tools, users can also gain access to long exposures.
According to Motorola, the Edge 50 series is the first smartphone to use a Pantone-verified camera. Motorola created it and the display with the help of Pantone color scientists to meet the latter’s “full range of evaluation and grading criteria through realistic simulations of Pantone Colors and Pantone SkinTone, as they would appear in the real world.” In addition, Edge 50 Ultra is equipped with a 6.67-inch ultra-high-definition pOLED display, with a resolution that is 13% higher than the previous generation.
Motorola also announced new Moto Buds+ equipped with Bose Sound. They offer active noise cancellation, EQ tuning, and compatibility with Dolby Head Tracking. While we don’t have an exact date for the Edge 50 series to arrive in North America just yet, the Moto Buds+ are available in Forest Gray starting today for $130.
