Meta Quest for Business is now online. Following a series of announcements last month, the Menlo Park-based company has officially launched its enterprise-grade XR device management and distribution center.
The platform is a subscription service that enables enterprise end users to leverage Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro devices. Additionally, Meta Quest for Business helps customers distribute devices and applications across their teams.
Enterprise end-users in supported regions, including the United States and United Kingdom, can register for Meta Quest for Business now. Additionally, Meta offers Sharing Mode and Support Plus as add-ons to the service. Meta also offers a 30-day trial period to potential customers.
In addition, Meta Quest for Business does not require a staff-engaged Meta account for customers who purchase the shared mode feature, a long-standing concern for Meta as it enters the digital business solutions space.
Meta Quest for Business is part of the evolution of the company’s VR headset subscription service for businesses not too long ago (near the Occulus era).
Meta Quest Business Edition: What’s New?
The improved service provides multiple ways to manage XR workplace devices. Meta has collected many of the service’s tools under its management portal, allowing teams to assign Meta headsets to active subscriptions.
Once the device is connected to the Meta Quest for Business hub, team leaders can manage and maintain it. In addition, team leaders can assign individual business add-ons to Meta Quest installations.
The Meta Quest for Business usage management portal provides a team management center for leaders to assign accounts and devices, as well as additional automation tools to streamline processes.
Meta Quest for Business also comes with a built-in. MDM solutions give team leaders direct control over their headset sets. Likewise, through the management portal, team leaders can leverage MDM capabilities to set up bulk provisioning, assign profiles, view device status, configure WiFi support, reset PIN access, and remotely wipe devices.
The built-in MDM solution provides access to a small selection of third-party XR MDM service providers, including Invanti, VMware Workspace ONE, and Microsoft Intune.
Meta Quest for Business also allows team leaders to manage XR application and software distribution.
Meta Quest for Business allows administrators to control how applications are accessed by Quest headsets, such as deploying applications privately to a small group of users or publicly as a broad deployment. The app management service simplifies the deployment of immersive apps by eliminating the need to visit a device’s storefront to download apps individually.
Additional services provided through Meta Quest for Business
In addition to the core services that make up the Meta Quest for Business subscription plan, Meta also offers additional services (which customers must pay separately) to enhance the platform.
Meta Quest for Business’s Shared Mode provides customers with an additional level of control; team leaders can assign Shared Mode to individual headsets that can be used regularly by multiple workers.
This add-on provides personalization and tailgating capabilities to accommodate constant switching between workers. Notably, sharing mode does not require a meta account and allows team leaders to set wider confirmations to provide a more consistent experience across users.
The shared model is priced at £8.99 per device per month and comes with another additional feature of Meta Quest for Business: business customers can subscribe to a 24/7 support hotline to enhance their customer experience.
Meta and Enterprise, are they long-term goals?
As Meta revamps its enterprise suite, the company sets its sights on delivering the future of work. Following the tepid response to Quest Pro, Meta is following in Microsoft’s footsteps and building the foundation of an industrial virtual world through immersive solutions to create the future of work.
When it comes to the future of immersive services in the workplace, Meta’s Global Head of Engagement, Reality Labs, Dan Nieves, took the stage at IGS 2023 last month to discuss the upcoming Quest for Business solution.
Nieves explains:
Metaverse technology and artificial intelligence are truly reshaping the way we experience the physical and digital worlds. If we obviously think about this moment, all of us in the same room, being together in the physical world is always the most enriching way. – But people in teams are becoming more dispersed and more dispersed. Therefore, it is actually the combination of the physical and digital worlds that defines our reality.
Dan Nieves said that companies use technologies such as VR and MR to create new opportunities that benefit society. Nieves added that there are a wide range of XR use cases available for enterprises, particularly in education, healthcare and workplace collaboration. Many organizations are already feeling the real impact of these technologies.
