JLab’s headphones and earbuds have a proven track record of delivering reliable sound quality at extremely affordable prices. At CES 2024, the company launched its first high-end headphones with active noise cancellation (ANC), but kept the price low at $80. Despite being an affordable investment, JLab hasn’t skimped on too many features, as the JBuds Lux ANC Wireless Headphones feature long battery life, multi-point Bluetooth, customizable EQ, spatial audio, Google Quick Pair, and fast charging.

JLab says the driver size of the JBuds Lux is 40mm, which is the same as flagship headphones from companies such as Bose and Sony. The company further explains that these components are capable of achieving a frequency response of 20-20kHz, the most common frequency response for headphones, and promises “superior audio quality” as a result. In terms of ANC, JBuds Lux can reduce noise by up to 25dB, you can choose to turn it off or use Be Aware (transparent) mode, and the level can be customized through the JLab app. You can use the software to fully configure the equalizer or choose from one of three audio presets. JBuds Lux also supports Spatial and Bluetooth LE audio.

The company claims more than 40 hours of use with noise cancellation on, and that number extends to more than 70 hours with noise cancellation disabled. Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint connectivity adds convenience, and Google Quick Pair and 10-minute fast charging give you four hours of playback time. JLab opted for a foldable design for easy storage, complete with padded ear pads and physical playback controls.

The JBuds Lux ANC headphones are now available for pre-order from JLab. The white, gray and green versions are scheduled to ship in late February, while the purple version will ship in March.

JLab also showed off a new set of budget headphones before the party officially gets underway in Las Vegas. The third-generation JBuds ANC ($60) can be used for 7 hours with noise cancellation turned on, and nearly four charges in the charging box. With ANC turned off, the headset battery life is expected to be up to 9 hours, and the battery life in the headphone box can be up to 33 hours. As JLab did on previous models, the charging case here is still about the size of a flash drive, and the attached USB-C cord can be hidden for storage.

Onboard touch controls handle playback and calls, and JLab says they can be customized within its app. You can also customize the sound profile to your liking by adjusting the EQ or using audio presets. The company offers a safe listening mode that keeps the maximum volume within the limits recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Bluetooth multipoint is here too, with an IP55-rated design that can withstand exercise, a low-latency movie mode for streaming, and Google Quick Pairing.

The JBuds ANC 3 Wireless Headphones are now available, but only in black.
