Intel and global investment firm DigitalBridge Group have formed an independent generative AI software stack company, Articul8 AI, Inc. (Articul8); Intel announced the establishment of the new company on January 3. Articul8 will work with Intel to provide solutions for organizations looking to build and deploy generative artificial intelligence.

    Articul8 products and capabilities

Articul8’s product is “a turnkey GenAI software platform that delivers speed, security and cost-effectiveness to help large enterprise customers implement and scale artificial intelligence,” according to a press release. Specifically, Articul8 provides the infrastructure, managed data layer, large language models, and APIs for generating artificial intelligence. Some use cases might be:

    • Deploy generative artificial intelligence to perform cybersecurity tasks such as threat detection.
    • Gain insights into data and produce engineering designs.
    • Using artificial intelligence data in semiconductor manufacturing.
    • Strengthen telecommunications operations.
    • Identify market trends and generate financial insights.

Articul8’s software runs on Intel Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Gaudi accelerators, but it can also run on other infrastructure. To provide enterprise users with flexibility, Articul8 works with Intel, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and NVIDIA.

Articul8 keeps pace with today’s enterprise AI trends, offering on-premises deployment and ensuring its AI capabilities keep company data, customer data, training and inference within enterprise security. It is designed for organizations with high security levels and specialized domain knowledge.

    Origin of Articul8

Articul8 was spun out from Intel and uses IP and technology developed by Intel. Articul8’s CEO is Arun Subramaniyan, who previously served as vice president and general manager of Intel’s Data Center and Artificial Intelligence Group. The two companies will work together while operating independently. Intel, DigitalBridge Ventures and other venture investors have funded Articul8.

Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger wrote in a press release: “With its deep knowledge of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing and enterprise-grade GenAI deployment, Articul8 is well-positioned to bring tangible benefits to Intel and our broader customer and partner ecosystem. business results.” “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Articul8 as Intel accelerates the development of artificial intelligence in various fields.”

Rich Lesser, global chairman of Boston Consulting Group, said in a press release that the project, called Articul8, has been incubated at Intel for two years and is being used by Boston Consulting Group.

“Since then, we have deployed Articul8 products to multiple customers looking for a production-ready platform and rapid time to market,” said Lesser.

“We are excited about the significant opportunity facing Articul8, which this investment further enhances, accelerating its growth and innovation,” Subramaniyan said in an email to TechRepublic. “Articul8 faces significant opportunities ahead and this transaction Allows Intel to continue to participate in any future value creation activities of Articul8.”

    Competitors of Articul8

Other companies working to provide enterprises with end-to-end generative AI development and deployment capabilities include Intel, IBM, HPE, AWS, Dell, Databricks and Google.

As more enterprises seek use cases for generative AI, a growing number of generative AI vendors are working to create end-to-end services that provide enterprise-grade security, rather than more commercial, publicly trained Models and use cases.
