I’m a big fan of 2-in-1 devices, especially if it comes with two operating systems that I rely on every day. Lenovo announced this year’s notebook product line during CES 2024. Upcoming updates include updates to gaming and work laptops, as well as the ThinkBook line, including the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid with Android and Windows. There’s also a new affordable Android tablet coming soon, along with colorful accessories that make me hope Lenovo finally embraces color in its products.

    Meet Microsoft’s new Surface laptop

Android tablet and Windows laptop rolled into one

I saw the ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid and was immediately attracted to it. The laptop is billed as a “flexible hybrid solution” with Windows components on one side and the components needed to run Android on the other side. The bottom of the laptop has all the necessary Windows 11 specs, including an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, up to 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The laptop’s 14-inch OLED touch display can be detached from the bottom to be used as an Android 13 tablet; it’s equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 12GB of RAM, and front and rear cameras. There are batteries on both sides, so you can dock the keyboard base with a monitor and mouse and use them as separate devices. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 starts at $2,000 and will be available soon.

The ThinkBook 14i Gen 6+ is (a bit of a mouthful) more stylish than its name suggests. It comes with up to 32GB of memory, built-in Intel Arc graphics, and an 85Wh battery. Human presence detection is also possible through an infrared camera used with Windows Hello. The real highlight is Lenovo’s LA3 AI chip, which is used for on-device processing, such as optimizing video for conference calls and the ability to adjust display brightness and keyboard backlighting based on your usage. You’ll see this chip popping up in more Lenovo laptops. The ThinkBook 14i Gen6+ will be available later this year, starting at $2,200.

If you want a small Windows laptop, choose the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4. This ultralight laptop features a 13.5-inch screen, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 74Wh battery. It comes with the latest Intel Core Ultra processor, up to 32GB of memory, three Thunderbolt 4 ports and Wi-Fi 6E. Magic Bay accessories are also available, helping to add functionality to an otherwise very slim device. The ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 will be available soon, starting at $1,400.

Finally, if you need power, the Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 5 is your best choice. ThinkBook 16p is equipped with the latest 14th generation Intel Core i9 processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. Lenovo’s LA3 AI chip and Nvidia’s TensorRT further enhance AI capabilities. The display is a 16-inch 3.2K screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz and is equipped with Dolby Atmos speakers. There are also plenty of ports: 2 Thunderbolt 4, 1 headphone jack, 3 USB-A slots, 1 SD card reader, HDMI 2.1 and Magic Bay pogo pins. It will be available soon, with prices starting at $1,600.

The Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i and Yoga 9i 2-in-1 use the physical Lenovo AI chip bundled with the ThinkBook. You can use Lenovo X Power, a “tuning solution” that helps with 3D rendering, film color correction, battery life, and cooling. The Pro 9i features a GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU, PureSight Pro Mini-LED 3.2K display, and six speakers. Some people like the dual-screen laptop experience, so Lenovo continues that experience with the Yoga Book 9i. It’s an AI-infused 4K camera and has two extra speakers that work with the ThinkBook’s speakers when connected. The Magic Bay Studio will cost $200 and will be available in April.

Finally, Lenovo has gone with some colors. In addition to two new colors of the laptop, the company also released Lenovo Yoga true wireless stereo earbuds and Yoga Pro mouse. I share them for no other reason than because they look beautiful. The headphones cost $70 and the mouse costs $40. They will be available in June and April respectively.
