Do you allow link history on Facebook?
When many Facebook users log into the app on their phones, they receive a pop-up that says: “Your Facebook browsing activity is now saved in one place, making it easy to return to recently visited links. When you allow a link History, we may use your information to improve your ads through meta-technology. You can manage your link history at any time in your browser settings.”
I tried Facebook’s ad-free plan. Here’s the thing.
Link History, as the name suggests, allows users to find the links they have clicked on the app. So, for example, if you clicked on a jewelry ad two weeks ago and want to find it later, you can use link history. You can also see this through Recent Campaigns, but link history will show you every link you clicked, not just the ads.
Facebook writes: “You can view the sites you’ve visited on Facebook in the past 30 days on the Link History page. Link History is a list of links to the sites you’ve visited on Facebook Mobile Browser.”
as social media today pointed out that this is not new to Meta, but this pop-up indicates that it is opening up to more regions. If you don’t see the pop-up and want to enable it, go to your profile, click Settings & Privacy, click Link History, then click “Allow Link History.”
But keep in mind that if you decide to allow Facebook to save all of your link clicks, Facebook “may use this link history information from our browser to improve your ads across meta technologies.”
