Pre-orders for Apple’s “spatial computing” device Apple Vision Pro will begin next week. Here’s how to get the technology that Tim Cook promises will usher in a “new era” for the company.
When will Apple Vision Pro be available?
Pre-orders for the Apple Vision Pro will begin on Friday, January 19 at 5 a.m. PT at apple.com/apple-vision-pro. You can purchase Apple Vision Pro at Apple retail stores starting Friday, February 2.
How much does Apple Vision Pro cost?
You’ll have to shell out a whopping $3,499 for Apple’s latest device, which features an M2 chip and a new R1 chip, which is designed to process input from the device’s cameras, sensors and microphones to achieve “virtual latency.” – Free, real-time view of the world. ” Apple also said that the headset’s eye-tracking technology will make navigating its VisionOS a breeze.

What does it take to buy Apple Vision Pro?
iPhone or iPad with Face ID
Apple will use its own Face ID technology to determine the “precise fit” of the Apple Vision Pro’s Light Seal and headband. So no matter where you order Apple Vision Pro (on the Apple website, in the Apple Store app, or in person), you’ll need an iPhone or iPad with Face ID. If you purchase through the app, make sure you have the latest version released on January 11th.
Vision prescription (if you wear glasses)
Those who wear glasses should be happy to hear that, unlike some of its more commercial predecessors (namely the Meta Quest and Quest 2), the Apple Vision Pro is designed to be worn without glasses. To achieve this, the company worked with Zeiss to create custom optical inserts. A few questions during the ordering process will help determine if you need optical lenses, and if so, a valid prescription from a U.S. eye care professional will need to be uploaded after checkout.
Find out before you buy with in-store demonstrations
Still not sure if the Apple Vision Pro is worth the hype? In-store demos of the device will be available during launch weekend. Apple says registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, and demo times will be available “on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the weekend.”
There’s no word yet on where you’ll find these demo sign-up links (or if you can go into a store to sign up for one in person), but it’s safe to assume they’ll be available at least through Apple’s website.
