Today, at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Honda unveiled two concept electric vehicles – a sedan called Saloon and a minivan-style Space-Hub. Honda said it will develop a model based on the Saloon concept for the North American market in 2026 before eventually reaching other buyers in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South America and Africa. Additionally, the automaker debuted a redesigned “H” logo that will be unique to its range of electric vehicles.
Saloon is its flagship electric concept car, featuring an aerodynamic design that sits low to the ground. While the space center is a bit boxy, renderings show its seats facing each other. Aside from touting a spacious cabin, Honda hasn’t revealed when or if it plans to actually build a car inspired by the Space-Hub concept.
The first models in Honda’s 0-Series lineup will feature advanced driver assistance systems that work with the automaker’s Sensing Elite software. In the second half of this century, Honda expects the 0 Series to gain autonomous driving capabilities through the integration of artificial intelligence.
Around the same time, the company expected to make major improvements to its battery technology, such as fast charging from 15% to 80% in about 15 minutes and reducing battery degradation to less than 10% within 10 years. These are audacious goals, especially for a company that’s relatively late to the EV scene.
