EA Play subscription service owned by Electronic Arts. The standard EA Play tier increases from $5 per month to $6 per month, and the annual fee increases from $30 to $40. The price of these updates will also affect EA Play Pro’s premium subscription, which allows access to the publisher’s games as soon as they are released. The cost of this tier now increases from $15 to $17 per month and from $100 to $120 per year.
EA confirmed the changes to Engadget via email, noting that prices are increasing in every country the company operates in. , the new cost structure was identified as “aligning expenses with market value.” The price increase takes effect for new members, but existing subscribers won’t be affected until May 10.
For the uninitiated, EA Play is a subscription service that allows players to deposit and withdraw from a selection of the company’s games, along with perks like discounts and DLC. It’s available on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, and PC. The service is in line with Microsoft Game Pass, PlayStation Plus and Ubisoft+, among others. As mentioned, EA Play Pro goes a step further and allows subscribers to play newly released games. It’s worth noting that Game Pass Ultimate members can still access standard EA Play tiers as part of their subscription.
It’s always frustrating when these subscription prices go up, and EA isn’t alone. Sony and Microsoft vs. Ubisoft+ Premium is probably the closest analog to Play Pro, which is in line with EA’s updated pricing model.
