Dell Technologies is helping customers achieve faster AI and generative AI (GenAI) performance with new enterprise data storage improvements and NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD AI infrastructure validation.
“Storage performance is a critical success factor for artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence,” said Arthur Lewis, president of Dell Technologies’ Infrastructure Solutions Group. “Customers rely on us to continue to push the boundaries of storage innovation, including eliminating limitations on throughput and performance of compute-intensive applications. Scalability data access bottleneck. We are meeting these needs by providing fast, efficient and secure data access and turning it into the proverbial gold mine of artificial intelligence and GenAI possibilities.”
Meet AI storage requirements for high performance and efficiency
New advancements in Dell PowerScale, the world’s most flexible, secure and efficient scale-out file storage system, address growing customer demands for higher AI and GenAI performance.
Now, with PowerScale OneFS software enhancements, companies can prepare, train, fine-tune and infer AI models faster. With new PowerScale all-flash storage systems based on the latest generation of Dell PowerEdge servers, customers will see up to 2x improvement in streaming media performance Read and write.
“We make engineering changes every 17 minutes, a pace that would not be possible without a robust IT infrastructure that supports all of our processes,” said Dan Keyworth, technical director of McLaren Racing. “With Dell PowerScale, we can leverage cutting-edge AI applications to combine high-performance storage with computing power to create a winning formula for success.”
PowerScale will provide new smart scale-out capabilities to increase the performance of a single compute node, thereby enhancing GPU utilization, delivering faster storage throughput for AI training, checkpointing, and inference.
“Dell continues to design file and object storage solutions with customers in mind, allowing them to modernize their infrastructure with an AI-ready foundation to support the most intensive workloads, such as Generative Artificial Intelligence.” Strategy Group. “With PowerScale’s latest performance advancements, customers can improve AI model training and fine-tuning to make better business decisions based on their data, wherever the data resides, while increasing speed and accuracy.”
Dell PowerScale accepts NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD validation
Through Dell’s partnership with NVIDIA, customers will be able to achieve faster, more efficient AI storage with the proven combination of NVIDIA DGX systems, Dell PowerScale storage, and NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand and Spectrum Ethernet. Dell’s solution is expected to be the first Ethernet storage solution proven on NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD.
With Dell PowerScale certified for NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD, NVIDIA’s turnkey data center AI infrastructure solution, customers will be able to confidently accelerate their AI and GenAI initiatives with Dell’s industry-leading network-attached storage.5 NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD includes the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, which provides a full-end, safe and stable AI supercomputing solution.
Bringing artificial intelligence to your data, no matter where it lives
With nearly 87% of companies adopting a multi-cloud strategy, Dell gives customers the freedom to process data where it makes the most sense for them – on-premises, at the edge or in the public cloud.
Dell APEX File Storage for Microsoft Azure is the latest addition to the Dell APEX storage portfolio for public cloud, delivering enterprise-class file performance and management capabilities in Microsoft Azure. Customers will be able to easily meet the needs of performance-intensive artificial intelligence and machine learning applications such as Azure OpenAI service and Azure AI Vision.
Dell APEX file storage in AWS and Azure allows customers to leverage cloud-native AI and GenAI workflows in the public cloud or on-premises data and improve data access and movement. For example, through Dell’s expanding Databricks partnership, customers can choose from a variety of large language models (LLMs) and use libraries in Databricks MosaicML to retrain the base with proprietary data stored in Dell’s APEX file storage model to provide flexibility in multi-cloud environments.
The Databricks collaboration builds on Dell’s data management ecosystem partnerships to help customers accelerate their artificial intelligence and analytics efforts. In addition, with Dell’s planned open and modern data lake, customers can extract insights from their data by integrating Starburst’s analytics software with Dell PowerEdge servers and Dell PowerScale, Dell ECS and Dell ObjectScale file and object storage systems. Where the data is located.
