Clicks wants to make physical iPhone keyboard cases popular again

A British company called Clicks will launch a new iPhone accessory at CES 2024 in Las Vegas that you might like if you like BlackBerrys. It’s a combination of a case and a full physical keyboard that you can connect to your iPhone if you want a more tactile typing experience, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ryan Seacrest’s Typo keyboard from a decade ago. The company’s Creator Keyboard sits at the bottom of the case and doesn’t cover the screen or any part of the device except the back and edges. Instead, it extends the length of the phone, allowing you to fully see what’s on the display even while typing.

This keyboard connects to your iPhone via the Lightning or USB-C port (depending on your model) and allows you to charge your phone as normal. It doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity, but that also means it’s not powered by a battery that needs to be recharged. You can turn on its backlight if you want to use it at night or in the dark, and you can use a bunch of keyboard shortcuts if you want to navigate your device without using the touch screen. For example, to scroll down a web page, you press the space bar. That said, its keys do seem very small, and if you have larger hands and fingers, you might find yourself struggling to type.

Clicks was founded by content creators Michael Fisher (MrMobile) and Kevin Michaluk (CrackBerry Kevin), who say the iPhone keyboard was designed by "A dream team of tech industry veterans." Michaluk added: "We carefully crafted every decision, from button specificity to keyboard layout, to make sure it was intuitive for iPhone users." You can order the Clicks Creator Keyboard now from the company’s website for $139, but shipping won’t begin until February 1st.
