OpenAI launches a custom GPT store and a new ChatGPT subscription tier for small teams. The GPT store allows developers and users to share and monetize customized versions of their viral chatbots. Meanwhile, ChatGPT Team costs $25 to $30 per user per month, while providing data security and supporting longer queries.

GPT Store allows OpenAI to transform ChatGPT’s white-hot position in the technology world into a toll-collector business model, extracting revenue like Apple’s App Store. Anyone can build and share GPTs—you don’t need coding experience—but creators must create a builder profile to share their real name or direct users to a verified website.
OpenAI said that its revenue program for GPT creators will be launched in the first quarter. “As a first step, U.S. builders will be compensated based on user participation in their GPT,” the company wrote, promising to provide more information as the program’s launch nears. For now, GPT’s creators will have to be content with riding the hype train and hoping the terms are attractive.
Chat the GPT Team
As OpenAI describes it, ChatGPT Team provides “a secure collaborative workspace to get the most out of ChatGPT at work.” Unlike ChatGPT Enterprise, which launched in August, the Teams tier doesn’t require thousands of dollars or calls to corporate sales teams. Instead, anyone who subscribes to ChatGPT Plus or Enterprise can join for $30 per month (billed monthly) or $25 (billed annually).
The ChatGPT team provides access to GPT-4 with a larger (32,000 tokens) context window for longer queries. Additionally, subscribers get higher message limits, and (as with the enterprise tier) OpenAI says it won’t train its models on ChatGPT Team subscriber profiles or conversations.
The team tier also provides a “secure workspace” including an admin console for managing seats. Team members of the program can also create and share custom GPTs internally. Finally, OpenAI said ChatGPT Team subscribers will have “early access to new features and improvements.”
