Bees live in the power of partnership
this The famous honeycomb pattern on the Utah state seal is a symbol of industry and cooperation. Industry and collaboration are also hallmarks of the long-standing relationship between the Federal Trade Commission and the Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Consumer Protection. That’s why we’re proud to announce that the department isNewest Winner of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection Partner Award.
Led by Francine Giani, executive director of the Utah Department of Commerce, and Daniel O’Bannon, director of the department’s Consumer Protection Division, the division has been an advocate for Utah consumers A loyal advocate for effective enforcement and outreach in the state. and They have been a valuable partner to the FTC in advancing our joint enforcement and outreach programs.
Their contributions are impressive:
- In 2015, the Department co-sponsored a highly successful Common Ground conference, the Utah Consumer Protection Summit, in Salt Lake City, which brought together more than 300 people to consider strategies to combat fraud and scams.
- They co-hosted the second Common Ground Conference Consumer Fraud and Business Seminar, In 2018, the event built on the success of previous events. For the Beehive State, both Common Ground meetings generated considerable public attention.
- The Division shares it is Extensive expertise in assisting the Federal Trade Commission in filing lawsuits to shut down sponsors of “coaching” organizations, including Coaching Division, Visual Solutions Marketing, Online Teaching and Training, and Lift International.
- The Division has made significant contributions to Federal Trade Commission actions against deceptively large claims filed by sellerss script.
Like the beehive on the state seal, the Utah Department of Commerce’s Consumer Protection Division is a hub of collaborative productivity. But like the inhabitants of a hive, harm Utah consumers and these guys will sting. In recognition of what we have learned from our Utah colleagues and what we have accomplished together, we are honored to present them with the BCP Partner Award.
