Just like slimming down the latest iPad Pro, Apple is said to be considering making the iPhone even slimmer. To be more precise, the company is developing a “significantly thinner” device that may be part of the iPhone 17 series to replace the Plus model. information.
According to multiple sources, the model is described as an iPhone X-level leap in the company’s design language. Apple has yet to finalize its design and is said to be considering various options, including an aluminum chassis. The upgraded front-facing camera can be housed in a smaller pill-shaped cutout along with the Face ID sensor, while the rear camera array can be moved to the center of the phone (which reduces the chance of your fingers accidentally covering the lens). The screen size is between the current basic iPhone and iPhone Pro Max, that is, between 6.12 inches and 6.69 inches.
If you’re interested, it’s worth remembering that the slimmed-down iPhone might actually be more expensive than the iPhone Pro Max, which starts at $1,200. But hey, at least you’ll have some time to save.
This thinner model may replace the Plus in the iPhone range. The report suggests there will be an iPhone 16 Plus, but that could be the end of the format, which hasn’t met Apple’s sales expectations. This year’s iPhone is said to be more about artificial intelligence advancements than any major changes to the physical design, although there may be a new button on the side with touch sensitivity for improved camera control.
Engadget has asked Apple to comment on the report. At the same time, there’s unfortunately no sign that the company will return to smaller screen sizes. I still miss my iPhone 5 sometimes.
