Activision Blizzard just announced that its mission is to “create a franchise with a lasting legacy that resonates far beyond the games themselves.” To help steward this enigmatic franchise as it takes on the world, the company has opened a new site called Elsewhere Entertainment’s new in-house studio.
The team is based in Warsaw, which produces The Witcher and Cyberpunk games, with assistance from a smaller U.S.-based team. The company didn’t reveal any details about the IP itself, saying only that Elsewhere is “committed to building an environment that inspires bold and diverse ideas” and that it has “full access to Activision’s resources and tools.”
The developer says the final version will be a “next-gen” experience, but doesn’t specify whether that means next-gen today or any console coming out in the next few years. It’s likely to be a story-driven game, as Activision has hired people who have worked on the game the last of us“Uncharted” series, Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. If you have a great resume and are eager to develop new IP, .
A new studio means new employees, for that matter. In fact, Elsewhere was founded just over a week before parent company Activision was founded. This also comes a few months after the launch of Toys for Bob from another Activision studio. Regardless, we’ll let you know when the company reveals some concrete information about the franchise itself.
