Sennheiser launched two distinct wireless headphones at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, expanding its Momentum product line with a fourth-generation flagship model and a high-tech sports version. The company’s premium earbuds have a long history of delivering great sound quality, consistently earning the best overall audio on our best wireless earbuds lists. We paid a quick visit to Sennheiser to see how these two new products fare.
No need to beat around the bush here: the audio performance of the Momentum True Wireless 4 is excellent. I only listened to them for a few minutes, but it was hard for me to walk away. The jazz demo tracks feature company-played earbuds with excellent clarity and a pleasing, inviting tuning. Active noise cancellation (ANC) also seems to have been improved, as I was able to silence a noisy hotel suite with the push of a button. Transparency mode also sounds better and more natural, but you still can’t send as much sound back through the earbuds as you can on AirPods Pro.
Sennheiser clarified during my demo that the Momentum True Wireless 4’s claimed battery life is seven and a half hours (with ANC turned off). However, it explains that it closes the gap on the impact of noise cancellation on battery life, as it only reduces gaming time by 30 minutes.
I’m also happy to report that there’s no noticeable degradation in audio quality on the Momentum Sport. Although the company aims to deliver “impressive bass” for workouts, the sound is still crisp, clear, and even. There’s plenty of low-frequency tone here, but it doesn’t seem to go any higher than on the Momentum True Wireless 4. The size of the Sport model makes it very comfortable to wear, and the ANC seems to do a good job of blocking out the roar that surrounded us at CES.
The Momentum True Wireless 4 will be available on March 1st, and the Momentum Sport will be available on April 9th. I’ll be testing both headphones closer to release date.
We will provide live coverage of CES 2024, which will be held in Las Vegas from January 6th to 12th.Get all the latest news from the show here.
