Jabra announced on Tuesday during CES 2024 that it will introduce new features and enhancements to its Elite 10 and Elite 8 Active wireless headphones due in late 2023. The updates, which will roll out in two waves, include improvements to switching listening modes, call clarity and performance in windy conditions (among other tweaks).
The first wave of updates, rolling out this month, will add a toggle to quickly activate or deactivate Jabra’s Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), HearThrough (which hears your surroundings while listening to music), and Sidetone (where you Hear the volume of your voice) function. Jabra’s January update also lets you customize the device name of the headphones, something the company’s competitors in the space have often used since day one. The January update will add these features to Elite 10 and Elite 8 Active.
Meanwhile, Jabra says its March wave of updates will optimize the Elite 10’s call clarity. The company says its latest ANC noise-canceling technology can better identify and reduce background sounds when talking through the earbuds. Finally, the audio company said that the enhanced wind detection algorithm on the Elite 8 Active will improve the performance of HearThrough (Jabra’s equivalent of transparency mode on Apple’s AirPods) in windy conditions. Of course, audio companies often make over-the-top guarantees about call quality and wind detection, so we’ll need to test Jabra first-hand before confirming its marketing claims.
Both phases of the upgrade will be available as updates to the Jabra Sound+ app. The Elite 10 and Elite 8 Active are available now, priced at $250 and $200 respectively.
We will provide live coverage of CES 2024, which will be held in Las Vegas from January 6th to 12th.Get all the latest news from the show here.
