If you (apparently one of the few) use the VPN service that comes with Google One, we have bad news for you. If you haven’t received an email from Google yet, you will receive one revealing that Google will be phasing out this perk later this year. The company launched Google One’s VPN feature back in 2020, but it was only accessible if you purchased a plan with at least 2TB of storage (costing at least $10 per month). Last year, the company expanded the availability of all One plans to include a $2-per-month basic option, making it more affordable than before.
Currently, as long as you’re in one of the 22 countries where One’s VPN service is active, you can access the service whether you’re using iOS or Android. You can also use it to block Internet usage on your Mac or Windows computer.Google didn’t say when the VPN service would stop working entirely, but it said 9 to 5 google It’s discontinuing the feature because “people simply aren’t using it.” Rather than trying to drum up interest, it redirects resources to support other, more popular One features. However, even after One’s is turned off, you can still use the free VPN that comes with Pixel devices through the Settings app on Pixel 7 devices and newer models.
