makes some of our favorite third-party game controllers. They work with just about everything and are well constructed. Now, you can purchase a bundle that includes the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller and charging dock. That’s nearly an all-time low, and the cheapest we’ve seen for this particular controller combo since earlier this year.

We call this controller the “last gaming controller” that most people “need to buy for Switch and PC.” There’s no stick drift due to the use of magnets and “Hall effect” sensors instead of traditional potentiometers. This gaming controller should last for a long time. We also like the Bluetooth functionality, especially when using the controller with portable devices like the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck.

There’s a neat little mobile app for customization, which adjusts the sensitivity of the joysticks, triggers, and tactile vibrations. Of course, the app also allows users to remap buttons, add macros, and create unique settings profiles. If you don’t like mobile, this can all be done on a PC.

The charging base is powered via USB-C and also serves as a storage container for the included USB wireless adapter. Game controllers can be connected via this adapter, Bluetooth or USB-C cable. Pairing is easy and is basically a plug-and-play experience.

Battery life is decent, but not spectacular. This controller can be used for approximately 20 hours per charge. The only real downside here is the initial $70 asking price, which is the same as the Switch Pro controller. This discount alleviates that problem, as $56 is pretty much the best price for a premium third-party controller.
