My colleague Maxwell Zeff once describe The image of Microsoft Copilot is “If Clippy went for an MBA”. Microsoft just announced a new premium subscription for its Copilot AI, which is akin to Clippy getting a PhD.
Aimed at “advanced users and creators,” Copilot Pro promises to be a premium version of the free tier, priced at $20 a month. It runs on your device (yes, on your phone too – more on that later) to deliver what Microsoft calls a “single AI experience.” During peak hours, you can also get priority access to OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo.
Targeted at creators and coders, it allows for enhanced AI image creation capabilities using Image Creator (formerly Bing Image Creator). Microsoft says the new image creation software is faster and can provide more detailed images. With Copilot GPT Builder (coming soon), Copilot Pro enables you to build your own Copilot GPT has fairly simple instructions. The company hasn’t given us an availability date for GPT Builder yet.
Microsoft has made three Copilot-related announcements for us. The second major update is the Copilot mobile app, which has been added to the regular free version of Copilot. It is now available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and is intended for mobile use. This may help consolidate all Copilot queries distributed between different devices.
The third big announcement is that Copilot will join Microsoft 365 with no minimum purchase. The previous minimum purchase was 300 seats, which was a restriction for small businesses. Microsoft 365 mobile apps will also get Copilot, allowing you to export content directly to Word or PDF files within the app.
