Victrola’s new Stream Sapphire turntable plays anything

In the past few years, Victrola has returned to the scene with slick turntables that can stream to Sonos wireless speakers. Now, the company has launched the Victrola Stream Sapphire, a turntable that can stream records to almost any device.

Victrola announced during CES 2024 that its highest-end Works with Sonos turntable will cost up to $1,499 and will be available in the United States in the spring. That’s nearly twice the price of the $800 Stream Carbon, and almost a lot more than the $599 Stream Onyx, a stripped-down version of the Carbon Victrola launched at last year’s CES.

For the added price, you get something the Stream Onyx and Stream Carbon lack: Roon and UPnP integration. So you can stream recordings to thousands of compatible devices, from non-Sonos Bluetooth speakers and soundbars to iOS, Android and Windows devices such as smartphones and laptops.

Victrola also enhanced the game in terms of the sound and construction of the Stream Sapphire. With support for 24-bit/48kHz lossless FLAC audio, this turntable should deliver higher quality audio than its predecessor. It’s also made from higher-quality materials, with a wooden base, an upgraded brushless motor, and expensive Ortofon Blue 2M cartridges.

The Victrola Automatic is a fully automatic turntable that will be released this spring alongside the Stream Sapphire, but at a much cheaper price.

The Stream Sapphire isn’t the only audio device Victrola is launching at CES this year. The company also launched the Victrola Automatic Turntable, a lower-priced turntable that will go on sale this spring for $199. It’s not a Works with Sonos turntable, but it’s Bluetooth-enabled and has a unique “Repeat” feature that lets you continuously repeat one side of a vinyl record.

The Victrola Rock Speaker Connect is an outdoor Bluetooth landscape speaker that looks like a rock.

Victrola also launched the Victrola Rock Speaker Connect, its first Bluetooth landscape speaker suitable for outdoor use that is shaped like a rock. It can be paired with up to 20 speakers, recharges via a built-in solar panel and USB-C, and is expected to last up to 22 hours. The waterproof speaker will be available this winter in three colors—sand, stone, and granite—for $99.
