WASHINGTON, April 5, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Verizon Business has partnered with NASA to provide network solutions to broadcast the solar eclipse live on April 8. Verizon Business, with significant support from Leidos, deployed 1GB E-line service from the Great Lakes Science Center in Cleveland to the John Glenn Space Center. This configuration was completed in less than 30 days, which was critical because it allowed NASA to thoroughly test video and broadcast applications before the eclipse occurred.
“This program is another example of our public sector team’s ability to deliver the types of solutions and technologies that help us become a trusted partner to federal agencies like NASA,” said Michael Adams, vice president of federal civil services. This connection will allow NASA to bring in multiple video sources from across the United States, including telescope views and broadcast commentary, which combined can provide broadcasts to NASA viewers around the world.
Verizon is a major technology partner of the federal government. Recent awards include a $15 million task order with the U.S. Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation Agency to upgrade communications infrastructure, and a nearly $450 million expansion of communications infrastructure with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers and medical facilities. Existing partnership to supply mission-critical communications for mobile Verizon Frontline to provide support during VA’s disaster recovery missions and other emergencies.
