The new agreement allows Tuxera to offer customers SMB technology and Microsoft’s SMB licensing in a single solution.
Helsinki, Finland / ACCESSWIRE / February 27, 2024 / Tuxera is expanding its partnership with Microsoft through a new Server Message Block (SMB) partner agreement. The agreement allows Tuxera to deliver innovative business solutions to customers by offering SMB technology and Microsoft’s SMB patent license in a competitively priced solution.

SMB is Microsoft’s native protocol for sharing files over local area networks, virtual private networks, and cloud-based solutions. It has been widely adopted around the world, thanks in part to Window’s global reach. According to Statista statistics, about 70% of the world’s desktop operating systems use Windows.
SMB is common in mixed environments due to its interoperability. It allows seamless file transfer between Windows and non-Windows operating systems and between many different types of devices.
This new agreement reduces any apparent hassles or barriers to technology licensing for SMEs. It also adds significant value to customers using Tuxera Fusion File Share, which provides the fastest, most reliable access to shared file resources and unique enterprise-class capabilities in SMB implementations using Linux.
Tuxera is the only company to offer fully licensed, high-availability, cloud-scale SMB solutions for enterprise storage needs, as well as SMB for embedded devices.
Tuxera has been working with Microsoft since 2009 and has been a designated authorized aggregator of exFAT technology since 2019. This new agreement builds on previous collaboration with Microsoft to develop and launch Fusion File Share by Tuxera, a product based on Microsoft’s SMB technology.
