Salesforce launches clean energy project management for energy and utilities cloud.
New solutions simplify the initiation, management and oversight of energy efficiency, conservation, electrification and electric vehicle charging programs. Now project managers at electric, gas and water companies can quickly and easily launch and manage new projects and increase customer engagement.
In September 2023, the UK government announced further changes to its net zero plan, pledging to help alleviate the financial costs for households. Against the backdrop of an uncertain policy environment, the energy industry has an opportunity to lead the climate transition in a positive way by leveraging technological innovation to streamline and simplify sustainability plans, thereby making it easier for customers to find ways to save money.
The Energy & Utilities Cloud leverages the full power of Salesforce Customer 360 and innovative technologies like the Data Cloud and Einstein 1 Platform to deliver greater efficiency and a better, more personalized experience for utility customers through real-time data, artificial intelligence and automation.
Clean Energy Program Management helps utilities develop, launch and manage new clean energy programs safely and compliantly, while making it easy for customers to discover available products, apply for programs and receive benefits quickly.
- Program Management Console Residential, commercial and industrial plans can be easily developed and goals such as energy savings, water savings and number of homes served can be set. Through the console, project managers can track the number of applications submitted, view application status and details, monitor project performance and budget, and manage regulatory compliance. Companies can also:
- Promote community initiatives, such as installing electric vehicle charging stations in public parking lots, to increase customer awareness while ensuring that all participants, from owners to installers, are on the same page on the project and able to solve customer problems.
- Identify customers who may be eligible for or interested in clean energy plans and engage with them through personalized campaigns that showcase available offers, relevant plan benefits and how they can sign up.
- Customer Self-Service Portal Make it easy for customers to discover and understand energy efficiency programs and offers. The portal provides an intuitive experience, leveraging Einstein AI to automatically surface all relevant programs, offers and services so customers can easily search for and access available rebates, incentives, new rates and income qualifying offers. Customers can then apply for a plan, be matched with a trusted service provider, or even receive benefits directly from the energy retailer or utility company’s website.
- Contractor Portal Make it easy for outside contractors to communicate and collaborate with utility companies, providing an instant hub to discover leads and upload work packages in bulk. Artificial intelligence and automation simplify the management of rebate applications and invoices, so contractors can be reimbursed faster even as workload increases.
“The energy and utilities industry has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to guide customers in the transition to a clean and sustainable energy future,” said Kelly James, general manager and senior vice president of Energy & Utilities at Salesforce. “With Salesforce’s trusted AI, data and CRM With clean energy project management on the platform, energy and utility companies can automate processes and build strong and lasting partnerships with their customers and communities, helping us all achieve net zero emissions faster.”
