Rakuten Symphony has launched telecom cloud courses on TIP Academy, the industry-neutral training platform for telecom infrastructure projects.
The Telecommunications Infrastructure Project (TIP) Academy, launched in June 2022 in partnership with TIP and Accenture, is an industry-neutral training platform for the telecommunications industry. The primary focus is to educate and upskill the telecommunications community on the practical aspects of architecting, building, testing, integrating and deploying open network solutions. TIP Academy has launched 14 Open RAN courses (with more than 100 hours of content) in cooperation with industry partners such as Vodafone, with more than 1,500 learners and more than 800 TIP Academy certificates issued.
The TIP Academy Executive Committee, under the direction of the TIP Board of Directors, which includes Vodafone Group, Accenture and TIP, is now expanding to welcome members of Rakuten Symphony. Rakuten Symphony has invested in a new TIP Academy course focused on the telecom cloud. TIP Academy and Rakuten Symphony will launch three new courses on the telecom cloud in mid-March, aiming to uncover the opportunities and challenges of driving cloud-native telecom networks.
Rakuten Symphony said that cloud-based architectures are already common among telecom operators, but there is a general lack of understanding of how to effectively design and build cloud-native architectures to respond to today’s and future connectivity needs. Many operators face the following problems:
- How to best develop a cloud-native strategy to match different network needs
- Technical and business advantages and challenges of public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud or on-premises cloud
- A path to zero-touch automation for virtual or containerized applications
- An approach to security lifecycle management of application workloads

Vishal Mathur, global head of engagement at TIP, said: “Rakuten Symphony is a leader in deploying zero-touch, cloud-native, programmable telecom networks, and I look forward to their leadership role in the TIP Academy to raise awareness and educate other telecom network operators Hopefully the same will be achieved. TIP Academy is delighted that these courses are built by industry for industry and I invite vendors and integrators to add to what Rakuten Symphony is launching in Telco Cloud.”
Vaibhav Dongre, Vice President of Marketing at Rakuten Symphony, said: “As telecom operators around the world seek to maximize the operational efficiencies that the cloud can offer, industry experts must master the fundamentals of a successful cloud-native strategy. Rakuten Symphony is pleased to provide TIP Academy with Contribute to the curriculum and create a course that will Empowering industry experts to maximize their cloud native potential. “
Jefferson Wang, chief strategy and growth officer of Accenture Cloud First, said: “In addition to competing for existing talents, we also need to focus on cultivating new talents. Through initiatives such as TIP Academy, Accenture has developed Open RAN training materials to help everyone take the initiative Upskilling talent. Now, by partnering with Rakuten Symphony for telecom cloud training, TIP Academy’s expansion enables the industry to implement cloud strategies at scale.”
