PrivacyCon: What’s on the agenda and who’s on the agenda
“Blind Faith,” “Crosby Stills,” “Nash and Young,” “Humble Pie,” “Traveling Wilburys.” Every musical genre has its supergroups, where individual talents from other groups come together to create something even more impressive.In the area of consumer privacy and data security, we believe the FTC’s agenda Privacy Conference 2018 Reads like the lineup of one of those legendary supergroups. (Minus Eric Clapton – sorry.)
This year’s PrivacyCon, scheduled for February 28, 2018, in Washington, D.C., will focus specifically on the economics of privacy, and Acting Chairman Ohlhausen will give opening remarks.The first section will discuss recent research Collection, penetration and leakage of private information.will be discussed at the next meeting Consumer preferences, expectations and behavior, including a deeper dive into the Internet of Things.Speaker 3 will focus on Economics, markets and experiments.Section 4 will introduce related research Privacy management tools and ratings. To reflect on the day, Neil Chilson, Acting Chief Technologist at the Federal Trade Commission, will deliver closing remarks.
As you can see from the agenda – which includes links to their research – speakers include high-profile figures from top universities, government agencies, advocacy organizationssand businesses. Representatives from institutions that fund privacy research, including some of the research presented at PrivacyCon, will discuss funding opportunities and institutional needs during lunch.This year’s PrivacyCon has some new features. In addition to the superstars in privacy and security, we’re proud to introduce attendees to tomorrow’s tech stars at PrivacyCon 2018 Student poster presentation.
PrivacyCon 2018 is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 8:15 ET at the FTC Constitution Center Conference Facility, 400 Southwest 7th Street, L’Enfant Plaza Metro, Washington. We will also be webcasting the event via a link posted that morning and live tweeting using the hashtag #PrivacyCon18.
