Tokyo, Japan – Panasonic Connect Co., Ltd. announced that Panasonic’s projection systems have been selected to power the world’s largest permanent projection mapping display at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku. Certified by Guinness World Records™ as the largest architectural projection display (permanent), it will begin operations on February 25, 2024. In the future, this system will decorate buildings with diverse content programs and revitalize the night-time economy.

In recent years, decorating urban structures with projection-mapped content has become a popular way to increase the value of after-dark tourism. Today, these attractions are familiar sights to domestic and international tourists, locals and children, reflecting the growing demand for immersive entertainment. As the emotional power of projected content continues to increase, so does the need for sophisticated visual equipment with greater expressive power. This results in increasingly complex installation, adjustment and management workflows, which is exacerbated by a shortage of specialist labour, reducing efficiency.

To address these challenges, Panasonic selected AcroSign digital signage solutions to power the world’s largest permanent projection mapping display as well as high-brightness Panasonic projectors and immersive sound systems on the exterior of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. This projection mapping system is centrally managed by AcroSign, enabling cloud-based remote management and content updates. Panasonic’s remote management services can also monitor system status from off-site locations, helping to simplify management and maintenance.
