OnePlus launches its own version of Google Magic Eraser

OnePlus is the latest company to jump on the artificial intelligence train. The phone maker is launching a new photo editing tool called AI Eraser that lets users remove extraneous objects from photos. The new feature will be rolled out across a range of OnePlus smartphones, including OnePlus 12 and 12R, OnePlus 11 and OnePlus Open.

To use OnePlus AI Eraser, you must first highlight the portion of the image you want to delete. These could be random people or dirty trash cans, but they could also be “flaws” in the photo. Artificial intelligence then analyzes the area and creates a background, which OnePlus claims will blend into the existing image. If this sounds familiar, it works essentially the same as Adobe’s Generative Fill and Google’s Magic Eraser tools.

However, this is a new venture from OnePlus, which uses its proprietary LM to power the AI Eraser. Kinder Liu said: “As OnePlus’ first feature based on generative AI technology, AI Eraser represents the first step in our vision to liberate users’ creativity and revolutionize the future of photo editing through AI, allowing users to edit photos with just a few touches. Create stunning photos,” said OnePlus President and Chief Operating Officer in a statement. “This year, we plan to launch additional AI capabilities and we look forward to their upcoming rollout.”
