Crypt of the Necrodancer It just won’t die – which is a good thing. The nearly decade-old roguelike rhythm game got new content on Thursday, adding virtual pop star Hatsune Miku as a playable character.
Developer Brace Yourself Games says Hatsune Miku is one of the most challenging characters in the game. She can move in all eight directions and eliminate enemies by advancing through groups of them. A press release from the developer explains, “She doesn’t have a shovel like most characters, so she must use a dance-like dash attack to break through walls.” Yeah.
She has a song called “Sing!” 》 ability – completely new to the game – to confuse nearby enemies. When one of these charmed enemies attacks Miku, she heals instead of losing health. Brace Yourself Games says it’s even redesigning all of the armor in the game into official Miku costumes, so you can rock out among legions of ghosts and skeletons in new outfits.
If you’re not familiar, Hatsune Miku is one of the biggest virtual pop stars in the world. She is forever a 16-year-old girl because she is the embodiment of “Vocaloid” software, which synthesizes pre-recorded voices to simulate human singing. The Avatar has sold out 14,000-seat venues, collaborated with Pharrell Williams and opened for Lady Gaga. She wasn’t the first digital celebrity, but she might be the most famous.
Hatsune Miku DLC Crypt of the Necrodancer It’s available now on the PlayStation Store and PC via Steam for $1.99. The content will later be released on Switch on April 13th. Check out her in action in the trailer below.
