To paraphrase that famous acoustic and philosophical question, if research falls in the forest and no one hears it, will it still make a sound? The FTC needs to hear from you in the following ways Friday, July 29, 2022if you have research about consumer privacy or data security and would like to be considered for the agency’s seventh annual Privacy Conference.
PrivacyCon will be held virtually on November 1, 2022, bringing together academics, industry representatives, consumer advocates, and government regulators to provide a forum to learn more about the latest research. As the call for demos explains, we are particularly interested in work on automated decision-making systems and business monitoring. But there may be room on the agenda for other privacy- and security-related topics, including research in the form of rigorous economic analysis, social science research, or law and policy articles with an empirical or application focus.
Please follow the submission instructions in the call for demos and make sure we hear back by the July 29 deadline. We will notify people later this year if their submissions are selected. If you have relevant work in progress that you may not be ready to attend PrivacyCon 2022, you can always send us your research report at Research@ftc.gov.
