Cloud Software Group and Microsoft announced that they will deepen their cooperation through an eight-year strategic partnership agreement.
The agreement will strengthen go-to-market collaboration for Citrix virtualized applications and desktop platforms and support the development of new cloud and artificial intelligence solutions through integrated product roadmaps. In addition, the Cloud Software Group will also commit $1.65 billion to Microsoft’s cloud and its capabilities to generate artificial intelligence.
The agreement will strengthen one of the industry’s longest-lasting alliances between Citrix, a business unit of Cloud Software Group, and Microsoft. Under the partnership, Citrix becomes the preferred Microsoft global Azure partner solution for enterprise desktops as a service when working with Azure joint customers. Together, the two companies will support customer success and provide tailored solutions, expert guidance and support to accelerate customers’ journey to the cloud. In addition, Citrix will leverage Microsoft Azure as its preferred cloud solution, providing Citrix customers the combined benefits of the Citrix platform, complemented by Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365. In addition, the partnership will create a deeper path to modern purchasing options through the Azure Marketplace, where customers can easily evaluate, extend or update Citrix solutions.
Sridhar Mullapudi, General Manager, Citrix, said: “As organizations adopt flexible working models, it becomes imperative to provide employees with secure and innovative solutions to increase productivity.
“The partnership between Citrix and Microsoft exemplifies the ‘Better Together’ relationship, combining the strengths of both companies to deliver unparalleled value and innovation to our customers.”
“Our new universal and cloud platform licensing simplification brings together all of our capabilities, including NetScaler, which will make our joint solution with Microsoft even easier for customers to use and deploy,” said Hector Lima, chief revenue officer at Citrix.
The agreement will also accelerate productivity and new innovations in the field of artificial intelligence. Cloud Software Group’s engineering organization is deploying GitHub Copilot to all engineers with the goal of increasing developer productivity by more than 20%, thereby accelerating the pace of R&D across the organization. In addition, Spotfire, the cloud software group business unit, recently announced the launch of new Spotfire Copilot extensions built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI services. Copilot Assistant is embedded directly into Spotfire to help customers complete more data processing tasks faster.
To improve collaboration and productivity, the cloud software group will migrate all employees to Microsoft 365. This will provide best-in-class productivity and AI tools to field teams, driving a new wave of joint go-to-market activities.
Judson Althoff, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Microsoft, said: “Our strategic partnership with Cloud Software Group is built on a shared vision of achieving customer success through the use of cloud and artificial intelligence technologies. Together, we will deliver integrated solutions and go-to-market support for its Citrix business unit to enhance customer experience.
“With Microsoft 365 as the collaboration platform and Microsoft Azure as the cloud solution of choice, Citrix is well-positioned to deliver transformative solutions at scale to our mutual customers.”
