Epic’s State of Unreal keynote kicked off with a surprise: a first look 1943: Rise of Hydra the new Marvel game from writer-director Amy Hennig, known for her work on Marvel Heroes Uncharted Franchise. It features a cast of playable characters including Captain America and Black Panther, and is described as a “narrative-driven action-adventure game.”
Marvel describes this setting like this:
As the game’s plot unfolds, players will assume the role of four central characters: young Steve Rogers, aka Captain America; Azuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the World War II-era Black Panther; Gabriel Jones Jones, an American soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a Waganda spy lurking in occupied Paris.
1943 It was recommended by Epic because it is built with the latest version of Unreal Engine 5.4, and the trailer proved to be a visual showcase of the engine.
Hennig first announced her current studio, which is part of Skydance Media, in 2019.While we haven’t seen anything from the studio until now, it’s clear the team is busy: In 2021, Marvel Games was announced, and in 2022 Star Wars title. Both games are part of Disney’s growing lineup of big-budget games, and Disney has recruited developers like Insomniac, Quantic Dream, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Respawn, Arkane and more to reinvigorate its gaming business.
