Those looking to buy a smartwatch for the first time or upgrade from an older model should check out the Apple Watch Series 9 sale currently running on Amazon. There are significant discounts on certain sizes and colors, including the 41mm red version, which is down to an all-time low of $295, more than $100 off the regular price. The 45mm model with cellular connectivity is also on sale with an $80 coupon, which brings the final price down to an all-time low of $350.

The Apple Watch has long topped our list of the best smartwatches, and the Series 9 (launching in September 2023) is a significant update from its predecessor. It runs on the new S9 SiP, which is the most meaningful upgrade to a wearable processor in years. While we didn’t notice a huge jump in overall performance—the Watch has long been fast and responsive—the SiP update does allow for faster Siri responses and support for offline Siri interactions.
The latest model also supports a new double-tap gesture based on Assistive Touch. This allows you to navigate the watch’s interface without actually touching the screen, doing things like turning off a timer or using finger gestures to start workout tracking. You can only use Double Click in certain instances in watchOS 10, but this feature makes these actions easier and more accessible.
In addition, the Series 9 is equipped with a second-generation ultra-wideband (UWB) chip that works with the new Find My iPhone interface, and its screen is brighter than previous versions. All of these things combine to make Series 9 feel like the biggest update to the Watch in years. Still, the caveats remain the same as they have been for a while: You can only use the Apple Watch if you’re an iPhone user, and it lags behind the competition when it comes to sleep tracking. Battery life affects the latter, but you’ll still get a full day of use before needing an overnight charge.
