Apple Vision Pro users now have a better choice of controllers

The Apple Vision Pro is an impressive piece of hardware, and the eye-tracking/gesture input combo is great for navigating menus and more. This isn’t great for gaming. There aren’t many easy ways to connect a third-party controller to play iPad or cloud games. However, that’s changing, as accessory maker 8BitDo has just announced that many of its controllers are compatible with the Vision Pro.

These accessories are officially supported by Apple, so they should work once a Bluetooth connection is established. No mess, no fuss. A total of eight devices have received Apple’s approval. One of those gadgets is the company’s ultimate Bluetooth controller, which we basically call the perfect gaming controller for PC.

Other compatible devices include various iterations of the SN30 Pro controller, the Lite 2 and the NES-style N30 Pro 2. This integration doesn’t just apply to game controllers, as 8BitDo has also announced AVP compatibility for its retro mechanical keyboards. Of course, the Vision Pro works with most Bluetooth keyboards.

However, this is pretty big news, as media consumption is one of the best parts of the Vision Pro experience. Video games fall neatly into this category. 8BitDo announced official controller support for Apple devices last year, although this was primarily for smartphones, tablets, and Mac computers. The integration comes thanks to new controller firmware and Apple’s recent iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3, tvOS 16.3 and macOS 13.2 updates. It looks like all the accessories that work with the iPhone and iPad also work with the Vision Pro.
