Hello and welcome back to Equity, a podcast about the startup business where we break down the numbers and nuances behind the headlines.
This is our newly revamped Wednesday episode where we talk all things startups and venture capital. Our weekend news roundtables have not been affected, and we are still recording interviews – just on an as-needed basis this year.
Here’s what we have this morning:
- Vertice raises $25M: The bet here is that companies are willing to pay another company (in this case, Vertice) to help them reduce their existing software and cloud spending.
- Electra gets $330 million: Electric vehicle charging is big business, and Electra is betting that building its own charging network will pay dividends over the long term.
- Build a Rocket Boy raised $110 million: a huge amount of funding for a game company with no game on the market yet. That said, it has to have something super cool to raise that much cash in today’s market.
- We also looked at rounds from Onera, Weavix, Long Story Short, and Xyte. There’s a lot going on!
- Thomvest raises a new fund: Another day, another new fund—this is the story of $250 million Thomvest.
Finally, there is good news for African startups. That’s it, we’ll see you again early Friday morning!
