Well, this is a shocking thing. Incognito Market is a darknet platform that connects drug sellers with potential buyers, but it turns out it’s not entirely trustworthy.
Drug dealers and buyers alike were extorted. They were threatened that their supposedly safe (and in some cases allegedly deleted) private chats would be made public unless they gave in to the blackmailers’ demands.
The person behind the scam has released a happy news on the stealth market.
Looking forward to hearing the last of us?
We have one last nasty little surprise for you.
Over the years we have accumulated lists of private messages, transaction information and order details. You’d be surprised how many people rely on our Auto-Encryption feature. BTW, your messages and transaction IDs are never actually deleted after “expiration”…
Surprise surprise! ! !
Regardless, if anything were leaked to law enforcement, I don’t think anyone would be wrong. We will release a complete dump of 557k orders and 862k encrypted transaction IDs at the end of May, whether you and your clients’ information is in that list is entirely up to you. Yes…
Yes, this is blackmail!
As for buyers, we will open a whitelisting portal for them to have their records removed in a few weeks.
Thank you everyone for doing business with Incognito Market
For just $100 to $20,000 (depending on your player size), Incognito Market claims to protect your information from the prying eyes of law enforcement. .
Obviously, if you sell illegal drugs online, you care about your reputation and don’t want to embarrass your customers by sharing any embarrassing chats with the world. But if you give in to the demands of your extortionists, can you trust them not to demand a larger additional ransom?
What a pickle.
Incognito Market published a list aimed at detailing who has paid the extortion fees and who has not, potentially facilitating faster payments.
Millions of Bitcoin and Monero have reportedly been “exit scammed” by users who suddenly find themselves unable to access their cryptocurrency funds. The extortion attempt occurred just days later.
It’s almost like the darknet drug market can’t be trusted. If it’s not bad enough that law enforcement agencies might manage to penetrate a criminal darknet site to monitor communications, the site itself might be designed to defraud you.
