The 2024 annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association-Business Law Branch (NBA-SBL) will focus on how to “survive and thrive” in the legal and business sectors in Nigeria’s current economic downturn.
At the same time, the agency announced the date of the meeting and the planning subcommittee. According to the agency, the conference will be held from June 26 to 28 at Abuja Mainland, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Now in its 18th year, the annual International Business Law Conference aims to stimulate discussion on innovative strategies to meet the challenges posed by a dynamic business environment.
Attendees will also gather insights from legal and business experts on how to overcome obstacles in the evolving business and legal environment.
Ose Okpeku, chairman of the conference, said the theme of “Survival and Prosperity” was carefully chosen because the Nigerian economy faces multifaceted challenges that transcend the business and legal fields.
“The NBA-SBL has also announced the names of the executive committee and subcommittees that will be responsible for guiding the affairs of this year’s conference.
“The Executive Committee is chaired by me, with Isaiah Bozimo (SAN) and Frances Eneh as Vice Chairman and Secretary respectively. Chinemerem Ezenwa will serve as Assistant Secretary.
“The Fundraising Subcommittee will be led by Dr. Fatima Kere Ahmed as Chairman; Co-Chairman Oludare Senbore and Vice Chairman Aderonke Alex-Adedipe.
“The Programming and Content Subcommittee is co-chaired by Solape Peters and Yeside Asolo, with Omoruyi Edoigiawerie as co-chairman and Ugonna Ogbuagu as secretary,” he disclosed.
He further explained that Moses Faya and Seun Timi will serve as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Technical Subcommittee respectively, while Temi Olowu will serve as Co-Chairman of the Sponsorship Benefits Subcommittee.
While Dayo Adu assumes the duties of Chairman of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee, he will be assisted by Deputy Chairman Onyinye Ukaegbu and Secretary Rosemond Phil Othihiwa.
In addition, the Logistics and Entertainment Subcommittee will be chaired by Johnson Amaechi, with Rita Nwokocha as secretary and Temitope Arowosegbe as member.
The supervised clinic will be coordinated by Marx Ikongbe, Mana B. Phar and Adeola Fayose. Speaking on the presentation of the conference’s sub-committees, Okpeku said: “We are delighted to unveil capable and distinguished individuals across the various sub-committees who we are confident will deliver as we celebrate our conference into an extraordinary conference.
