robotics, and here’s why: It combines aerial and ground robotics into a single,
Integrated package.
The solution is called Captis – an autonomous ground vehicle that can find its way around a warehouse on its own. It won’t hit people or objects and requires no changes to infrastructure.
When it’s time to do a cycle count, it uses drone technology connected by a tether to a ground-based robot –
For powering drones and instant data transmission. As the Captis base travels down even narrow corridors, the drone rises vertically and begins scanning the product (nothing to do with the code).
Headquartered in Ottawa, Cypher Robotics has a dedicated engineering team and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. Several months of comprehensive, real-world testing was conducted in partnership with a large Canadian retailer with over 300 stores across the country.
The system can automatically capture data with an accuracy of up to 99.9% for up to 5 hours per mission. This data automatically integrates with existing warehouse management systems (WMS), WCS (warehouse control systems) and WES (warehouse execution systems) software. Captis eliminates the costs associated with manual cycle counting, improves inventory accuracy, and ensures seamless and timely replenishment while avoiding over- or under-stocking.
What’s more, Captis can perform highly detailed and precise scans of your infrastructure simultaneously (more on this in the future).
Sounds technically complicated? This is. But it’s also easy to operate.
“Captis is a completely hands-off product,” said early investor Philip Reece, who has founded or co-founded several successful companies in robotics, drones and research and development. These include InDro Robotics, a Canadian leader in the development of ground and aerial robots, which has also invested in Cypher
robot technology.
“When we say this is ‘the future of warehouse robots,’ we mean it. It completely eliminates the boring, repetitive work of manual scanning, freeing up employees to do more satisfying work. It also frees up or eliminating the need for equipment such as modified forklifts previously required for the mission.”
Cypher partners with warehouse fulfillment specialist GreyOrange and global telecommunications innovator Ericsson.
“The Captis autonomous cycle counting solution is powered by GreyOrange’s GreyMatter, our fulfillment orchestration platform,” said Akash Gupta, co-founder and CEO of GreyOrange. “We are excited to have Cypher Robotics join GreyOrange’s Certified RangerTM Network (CRN) ecosystem.
Cypher’s Captis solution is a great option for companies new to automation and robotics, as the average warehouse only requires one robot. “
Manish Tiwari, Head of Private Cellular Networks in Ericsson’s Enterprise Wireless Solutions business area, said: “Captis is an innovative solution that listens to industry needs and meets them efficiently. By connecting to Ericsson’s dedicated 5G, Captis can traverse the warehouse, All while maintaining a consistent connection, keeping employees and devices safe. The low latency of the connection allows for immediate verification of data and the ability to recapture data to maintain accuracy. This solution ensures that an organization’s profile is protected throughout the entire process.
Ericsson looks forward to continued collaboration and innovation with Cypher that will help our customers’ digitalization efforts. “
About: Cypher Robotics is a Canadian company solving supply chain and precision scanning problems for robots. In addition to building customized solutions for the supply chain/inventory management space, the company also designs, tests and validates its products.
Its Captis platform, incubated by InDro Robotics, integrates the best of ground and aerial robotics technology and is capable of RFID and precision scanning.
