Osaka, Japan – Panasonic Corporation announced today that its Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning business has launched a new water purification system that utilizes the company’s unique technology to remove iron from well water. This version is scheduled to be released in Indonesia in April 2024. Additionally, the company will launch a water softener in August that converts hard water into soft water. In addition to integrating these new products with well water pumps and electric showers already on the market, the company will also strengthen its organization for required water quality testing before equipment is installed and offer new duct cleaning services. This will help improve the quality of life of Indonesian people through the expansion of water-related solutions, including equipment sales and services.
“Clean water and sanitation” is listed as one of the sustainable development goals. Water-related issues are major social challenges facing the world. Particularly in Indonesia, about 70% of the population uses low-quality well water for laundry, showering and other domestic purposes, causing public health problems. The water in Indonesia is hard and contains high levels of calcium and magnesium, causing inconveniences such as stiffness in washing clothes, uncomfortable showers, and scale on kitchen equipment and tableware. The company hopes to solve these problems by softening the water.
In 1988, Panasonic began selling National (now Panasonic) brand well pumps in Indonesia and has since expanded to other countries in Asia and Central and South America. However, well water with high iron content is unsanitary and can cause odors and turbidity, and can cause stains on clothing and discoloration of bathtubs and toilets. In 2020, Panasonic launched a water purification system that allows the company to use its proprietary technology to remove iron and turbidity from water, thereby providing pure domestic water. If the user personally maintains the filter in the filtration section once a day, its filtration efficiency can last up to five years. In addition to individual customers, the products are also sold to corporate customers such as real estate developers and have been well received.
Below is an overview of the upcoming water purification systems and water softeners, as well as planned service expansions and organizational enhancements.
