Vonage, the cloud communications specialist that helps enterprises accelerate digital transformation and is part of Ericsson, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to accelerate the delivery of new solutions to millions of AWS developers through the AWS Marketplace.
The partnership will integrate Vonage’s platform, which is based on communications APIs and network APIs that connect to communications service provider (CSP) networks, Ericsson’s 5G network capabilities and AWS services. This will enable AWS and Vonage to create a suite of solutions that enable customers to leverage the network to drive innovation and create a better overall customer experience.
“AWS and Vonage share a passion for helping customers deliver innovation and value,” said Kathrin Renz, AWS Industry Vice President.
“Our partnership with Vonage aims to drive new industrial and enterprise applications across industries, combining technologies such as 5G networks and generative artificial intelligence to power new products and enhance the overall customer experience.”
Omdia’s 2023 Cybersecurity Decision Maker Survey noted that 92% of organizations experienced a security incident or breach in the past 12 months, and according to the Federal Trade Commission, impersonation scams cost the U.S. $2.6 billion in 2022 alone dollar losses. Fraud risk is a growing concern for businesses, but the risk can be mitigated.
New Vonage Fraud Protection solutions soon to be available in AWS Marketplace will include Fraud Defender solutions based on Vonage CAMARA* API SIM Swap (alpha when available), enhanced by AWS generated artificial intelligence (AI) services and their verification, and with Amazon Number Insights API used with Rekognition. With this new update, Vonage will further build other solutions like this to accelerate bringing the power of Web APIs to market.
One of the capabilities of the SIM Swapping Network API is to allow developers to determine whether a phone number has recently changed SIM cards and is involved in fraud. Vonage’s enhanced Fraud Defender API will proactively detect fraud signals, the Vonage verify API enables secure silent authentication, and the Vonage Number Insights API provides fraud scoring capabilities.
By supporting AWS generative AI services, the solution’s fraud detection capabilities will be further enhanced. This will enable businesses to better protect themselves against mobile fraud while improving customer experience.
Niklas Heuveldop, CEO of Vonage and head of the business area Global Communications Platforms at Ericsson, said: “By partnering with AWS, we will accelerate our ability to embed communications and network APIs into applications and provide new products to AWS and Vonage customers.
“Through the Network API, we are demonstrating new capabilities never before available in 5G networks, allowing network information to be used to enhance existing applications and support the development of new applications.”
“Voicify has integrated Vonage’s communications API into our conversational AI experiences tailored for the restaurant industry,” said Nick Laidlaw, chief technology officer at Voicify.
“With new fraud protection solutions, including AWS, and network APIs like SIM swapping, we can improve the security of text messages and phone calls, ensuring secure and effective transactions and reinforcing our commitment to delivering trusted services. Conversational Artificial Intelligence Serve. “
